Enfleurage...
March 20, 2004
Ceylon Vanilla for the Love of His Excellency, 1661

Methode Enfleurage

Almonde Oyl -- our base oyl
Jasmine -- our top, sweete note
Powder of Vanillla Bean -- with the almonde, the base middle
note
Powder Clove -- this middle note picks up where jasmine
surrenders, finishing with bite of spice.

In morning sun of the first day, bring jasmine, still with a touch of
moisture, to the almond oyl, a resonant oyl but unscented. Seal
jar tightly and set in window for best chance of sunlight or
surround with gently burning candles. Sunlight is best.

Morning, second day, run mixture through the cloth, discard used
jasmine. Add fresh jasmine together with powder made of
grinding vanilla beans. Vanilla bean oil from light pressing to
deepen the fragrance. Sit in sunlight or in gentle warmth for two
days.

Morning, fourth day, run mixture through the cloth. Discard
jasmine. Add powder made of grinding vanilla beans, also add
oil of the bean from light press. Add powder made from grating
of one clove. Sit in sunlight or in gentle warmth for one day in full.

Morning, fifth day, run mixture through the cloth. Discard jasmine.
Add small amount clove and vanilla for finish.

Morning, sixth day, bottle and package to His Excellency's
pleasure...
